If you’re managing the online presence of a medspa or medical aesthetics clinic, you might be wondering whether it’s a good idea to use AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, or others to generate content for your website.
With so many agencies and marketers using AI to produce content quickly and efficiently, it might seem like an attractive option.
AI can help you churn out large volumes of content without spending hours writing.
For marketers, this can be a huge time saver, and as far as Google is concerned, AI-generated content is fine, as long as it’s high-quality, relevant, and genuinely helpful.

But before you dive in, there are a few important things you NEED to KNOW before using AI to create content for your medical aesthetics clinic.
What is YMYL?
YMYL stands for ‘Your Money Or Your Life’ and it plays a role in how you should be creating medical content.
Google uses their ranking algorithms to uplift content that shows the characteristics of E.E.A.T
E.E.A.T stands for: Experience – Expertise – Authority – Trust – But in YMYL sectors E.E.A.T alone isn’t enough
Google describes YMYL, ‘Your Money Or Your Life content as:
“topics that could significantly impact the health, financial stability, or safety of people, or the welfare or well-being of society”
Medical aesthetics digital marketing and YMYL
Medical aesthetics falls into the category of Your Money of Your Life, because the treatments that are offered can impact a patient’s health, and in rare occasions, their safety.
It is therefore imperative that medical aesthetic clinic owners are aware of how hastily produced AI content can impact their businesses by:
- Damaging your clinic’s reputation
- Reducing the effectiveness of your marketing efforts
- Providing users with incorrect information
AI hallucinations
If you are familiar with using AI and LLMs you may have noticed a disclaimer that they display.
Chat GPT’s says: ChatGPT can make mistakes. Check important info.
Google AIO says: Generative AI is experimental
And if we dig a bit deeper Google states
“The Services may sometimes provide inaccurate or offensive content that doesn’t represent Google’s views. Use discretion before relying on, publishing or otherwise using content provided by the Services.
Don’t rely on the Services for medical, legal, financial or other professional advice. Any content regarding those topics is provided for informational purposes only and is not a substitute for advice from a qualified professional.“
AI gets things wrong, and it happens a lot
For example, I was writing a blog about SkinBetter Science and I was trying to find out about the year that L’oreal acquired the company.
I knew this buy-out had happened, because I am familiar with what is happening in the aesthetics industry and with medical grade skincare brands.
ChatGPT didn’t know this information:

So, after wondering if I had hallucinated this information, I resorted to Google, where I was validated.

It turns out that I was right – and ChatGPT was hallucinating!
Quality clinics need quality content marketing
If you, or your digital marketing agency are publishing incorrect content on your website, you run the risk of sharing wrong, and potentially harmful information.
You could also be inadvertently ruining your clinic’s reputation.
Poor quality content can negatively impact your marketing efforts.
Over the years I have worked on multiple aesthetic clinic websites and I have monitored and evaluated how AI content performs against quality content that has been written by an expert.
Although Google deny it, most experienced SEOs would agree if users interact with your content for a longer time it increases your website visibility. This interaction is called dwell time or engagement rate.
Why is engagement rate important?
The longer a user engages with a web page, the better the page will rank in the SERPs (aka the search engine results pages). In my experience, hastily created AI content does not attract high engagement rates.
Websites can end up with page after page of AI blog content and marketing copy that users are not interested in.
Over time, this not only devalues each individual web page, but it devalues the ENTIRETY of your website, leaving your competitors to cream off the traffic, and the conversions!
In addition to this, Google have recently announced that if users don’t use your web pages they may drop out of the search results altogether, which means you could be paying for content creation that is redundant before it is even published.
Sophisticated audiences
As a high end medical aesthetics clinic, your patient demographic is likely to be educated, a little bit older, and with a high disposable income.
Patients who are seeking out your services know quality when they see it.
Cheap content ruins your brand, discourages sophisticated new patients, and can get your website penalised in Google.
It’s a recipe for disaster!
The balance between AI and expertise for content creation
AI tools can be a valuable asset when creating content for your medical aesthetics clinic’s website, but AI should never replace the need for expert knowledge.
As long as you use AI as a supplement to your expertise, and ensure that the content reflects your authority and trustworthiness in the field, you can benefit from the efficiency AI offers without compromising quality.
